FRIDAY, 30 MAY 2014 00:00

As part of an organizational restructuring, ALLMEP announced today that it has begun an immediate search for a U.S. director.  The organization seeks a dynamic, creative, and articulate U.S. director to lead and implement its development, advocacy, outreach, and marketing programs in the United States. This position provides a rare opportunity to contribute to Israeli and Palestinian peace and security by building a strong network of supporters in the United States; serving as the voice and advocate for tens of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians, Arabs and Jews who are building cooperation and a foundation for lasting peace; and building bridges between those regional peacebuilders and the many Americans of all backgrounds who care deeply about peace in the region.

ALLMEP is the coalition of over 80 non-governmental organizations that promote people-to-people cooperation, coexistence, and reconciliation between tens of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians, Arabs and Jews in the Middle East. ALLMEP builds the foundation for long-term peace, security, and stability by raising awareness and increasing resources for these critical cooperative efforts while also creating more collaboration and coordination among member projects. It works to build a thriving community and movement of Israelis, Palestinians, and international supporters who unite in support of a mutually beneficial two-state solution, coexistence, and equality.

To help ALLMEP grow into its next stage, the U.S. director will:

  • Raise funds for organizational growth, including by developing a robust individual donor base, developing creative fundraising campaigns, recruiting new Board members, and attracting new foundation donors.
  • Lead and organize outreach and advocacy to Congress, Executive Branch, and foreign diplomats.
  • Launch public awareness and media outreach campaigns to promote ALLMEP’s and our members’ work through traditional and new media, social networking, email, and an expanded and updated web site.
  • Coordinate and assist ALLMEP working committees and Board of Directors.
  • Develop, plan, and execute public and private advocacy days, conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Be an articulate spokesperson for Middle East citizen diplomacy to ALLMEP’s target audiences – policymakers and diplomats, media, private funders, and religious communities.
  • Oversee and manage the organization’s U.S. finances and legal obligations.
  • Recruit and manage future U.S. staff and volunteers.
  • Partner and collaborate with ALLMEP’s regional director in other programs and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree; higher degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in successful fundraising and advocacy.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • A magnetic personality with natural network-building instincts, strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills and ability to manage diverse views.
  • Willingness to work from home office.
  • Proficient and independent computer user (including Microsoft Office; must be knowledgeable in or a quick learner of new technologies, such as social networking, sending email newsletters, and updating web sites).
  • Location that is frequently and readily accessible to New York and Washington, D.C.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for Middle East peace and the transformative power of citizen diplomacy.
  • Experience with advocacy before Congress and the Executive Branch.
  • Knowledge of Israeli-Palestinian issues, Hebrew, and/or Arabic.
  • Web site development / management / updating experience.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Public relations experience.

Compensation commensurate with experience. Benefits not available due to organization size.
